In this crisp golden fall, the annual HFI voice is taken part on November 13th! With the passion and anticipation for music, students from both KC campus and SP campus gathered together in the SP Recital Hall in order to enjoy this musical feast.
Before the competition begins, a series of Pre-shows captivated the audience. There were 5 performances in total, each impressive and engaging, drawing everyone into the vibrant music atmosphere.
Then came the first highlight - the competition for the ‘Best Singer’ in KC campus. In the initial round, two of five contestants advanced to the finals. The first performer, Cathy Liang, presented a love song conveying ‘no matter how far we are, we will be together’. Similar to Cathy, Sylvia Tan also sing a Chinese love song breaking free from an unworthy relationship. Ella Wang then energized the audience with a pop duet, “Die with a Smile” by Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga—a song that won a Grammy Award in 2025. Her powerful and impressive delivery conveyed the song’s intense emotions to the crowd. A popular Chinese song Sibo Su sang by Jay Chou received high acclaim from the audiences due to his perfect and touching performance.
The event then moved into the voting session, during which the audience had five minutes to vote for their two favorite singers. Following these energetic dances, members of the drama club present a scene from the musical Alexander Hamilton, showcasing the beauty of classic musical theater and illustrating how ambition, legacy, and the complexities of nation-building are shaped by revolutionary ideals and human fragility. Finally, the most electrifying performance comes from the Hip-hop club, who deliver a rendition of "Runaway" by Kanye West, widely regarded as one of the greatest rappers in the U.S. Their act goes beyond singing—they form a live band featuring instruments such as piano, guitar, bass, and drums to create their own accompaniment.
