When School Turns Spooky: Halloween Comes to Campus
25 Jun, 2026

It is a crisp autumn morning, with a gentle breeze blowing and everything appears perfectly normal. But on the fifth floor of the KC campus, something spooky whispers. Stepping out of the elevator, you'll find the classroom already adorned with bizarre ghosts and pumpkin motifs, with spiderwebs and skeletons hanging on the door. Students seated inside could barely hold their excitement and anticipation. Then, under the gaze of countless curious eyes, a group of people dressed in bizarre customs come upon the podium, arousing waves of astonishment and shrieks——they are HFI’s teachers, and this marks the beginning of HFI’s annual highlight——celebration of Halloween!

Daytime enjoyment

Dressing up in various costumes to come to work on Halloween is a long-standing tradition and great source of enjoyment for HFI faculty and staff, and it brings a lot of fun to all students. This year, the Halloween outfits of teachers in KC campus seemed to be even more creative and attractive. The most eye-catching and hilarious styling should undoubtedly belong to Joe, who wears a Meituan rider shirt, showing words of delivering NP and HW on his back. The laughter didn’t stop when Chloe showed up wearing an eye mask and an apron resembling a bed, just responding to her desire of “sleeping and doing nothing” as she expressed to us. Moving to those classic stylings, Yoee, our ECC teacher, carrying on her consistently cool dressing style, appeared in the style of the female first pirate from the film Pirates of the Caribbean. What’ more iconic, our dear dormitory monitor Will Hu suited in Ultraman Tiga's outfits, holding his spark lens and saying “Tiga, transform!” to students looking him in awe. All the teachers express their personal preferences through their stylings, alongside the spirit of Halloween——playfulness, spookiness, participation and creativity.

Nighttime carnival

As night fell, the atmosphere of Halloween truly began to take shape. At the entrance of the Aoxiang Building, the café club welcomely served every coming guest with their special-made Halloween-flavoured drinks and magic potions, bringing them into the festival’s spooky vibe. Getting upwards, the drumbeats were bouncing amidst the purple ambient lightning——It’s DJ dropping the beats for DieLit Club’s annual hip-hop party, where students enthusiastically threw their hands into the air, swaying to the rhythm with the thrilling hip-hop music filling the room. As one of the most attractive and engaging events in HFI's Halloween night, the party featured new elements such as Polaroid photography and CCD camera photography in addition to musical entertainment. The Polaroid picturing was particularly popular, with students in various dressings eager to capture their Halloween outfits. You could see vampire-style outfits clashing with prankster reptile costumes, and witches and little sprites sparking a flame. Meanwhile, other groups of students gripped each other nervously while stepping into the haunted house run by the student council and listening to the shrieks echoing in the room, keeping themselves alert for potential scares and NPCs appearing at any moment. Everyone was enthralled by the playful and spooky Halloween atmospheres.

Conclusion

From the playful surprises in the classrooms to the thrilling activities at night, Halloween transformed the school into a space of creativity, excitement, and shared joy. Through imaginative costumes, lively parties and immersive activities, students and teachers came together to celebrate the spirit of Halloween. This Halloween’s experience will become unforgettable memories that will linger long after the decorations are taken down.
